Our activities

Care in action.

Our everyday work begins at the New York City showroom. These past initiatives show how Shine’s donors, volunteers and partners have also shared essentials with communities facing crisis.

Essentials after
the wildfires.

After the Los Angeles wildfires, Shine coordinated the collection and distribution of new essential supplies for people and families affected by the disaster.

Donors, vendors and volunteers helped gather and pack the supplies. The photographs and videos show that shared effort, from sorting essentials to preparing boxes for shipment.

Working with
local leaders.

Founder Susie Domb partnered with community leaders in Simoonga Village to provide clothing and food for children and families experiencing poverty.

With Toys for Hospitalized Children

Care during
a hospital stay.

Shine teamed up with Toys for Hospitalized Children to bring brand-new toys to children in local hospitals.

Mothers also received Starbucks gift cards for a moment of care for themselves. The visits offered something for both the children and the parents alongside them.

Poland · 2022

For families
far from home.

Mothers and children who had fled the war in Ukraine were seeking refuge in Poland. Together with Toys for Hospitalized Children, Shine contributed new clothing and accessories for the families.

Shine helped curate a selection of clothes and accessories, which Toys for Hospitalized Children distributed during its visit. The photographs record the people and shared effort behind that response.

“The clothes brought much-needed comfort and love to young children and mothers going through the most difficult time imaginable.”
